Good Evening Everyone, I feel that it would be appropriate to tie an idea that is recently emerging with an idea that our company is supporting. NugoUgo provides hotels with the ability to make a profit by selling apps to their group clients. Whether it be a conference center, a hotel with conference space, or a boutique hotel with surprisingly large weddings, it is very clear that many event planners are adopting this idea that they should begin using apps. Coming out of a tough economy, many hotels, conference centers, and casinos find themselves continually pushing their efforts to increase their revenue without taking on too many liabilities. One of our clients, The DoubleTree by Hilton in San Jose, has proven to everyone that their sales department is able to make a profit off of their app by providing event, conference, and wedding groups with their own personalized smartphone applications. This makes sense considering the absurd affordability of conference apps in comparison to the cost of providing wireless internet or catering for a conference. The interesting thing comes now. NugoUgo is offering the hotels the ability to add one minute of speaking onto their hotel’s sales team with the very real promise that they will be able to make a profit off of providing groups with smartphone apps. That said, not every property involved in the travel and leisure industry has been thrilled with that idea, and I say to those properties that there was a time when even hotels had to ask themselves if it would be worth their time to get a telephone in every guest room. Ironically, a similar situation seems to be coming to the travel and leisure industry once more. Hotels, Casinos, and Resorts are finding themselves forced to answer to their guests’ exponential growth of smartphone and tablet usage. Admittedly, many properties will likely refuse to pick up on these clues until their entire revenue stream is being choked out by their competition and siphoned by Online Travel Agencies. All one needs to do is a simple search on a search engine to see that tablets and smartphones are here to stay; and hotels, casinos, and resorts have to be prepared to offer the groups that stay at their hotel with the ability to satisfy their tablet and smartphone needs. We suggest that you start looking for providers of conference apps before those groups begin looking somewhere else.

“Spending by U.S. hotels on improvements will increase 30% to $3.5 billion this year, New York University's Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management newly estimates…”[1] Ever since the recession, consumers have been wanting to stay home more and more. However, consumer demand to travel is increasing, and hotels are responding by splurging. Hotels are trying to out innovate and out renovate their competition. Although some hotels have stuck to the traditional method of refurnishing and remodeling, a great deal of hotels are looking to improve the technologies for their hotel guests with amenities such as free high speed Wi-Fi, new flat screen televisions, or NugoUgo custom branded smart phone applications. We at NugoUgo are finding that hotels are stretching the value of their dollars by investing in technologies like mobile apps because of the lack of depreciation in capital that is usually found in assets like hotel beds, new wallpaper, or any other refurbishing. Hopefully more and more hotels will realize the long lasting value of our services and decide to take a look at how they can stretch their dollar.

The Chancellor Hotel's Mobile Application, designed by NugoUgo, was selected as the Technology Innovation of the Year winner in the Stars of the Industry Award Ceremony hosted by the California Hotel & Lodging Association.
"It is an honor for the Chancellor Hotel to be recognized in the Stars of the Industry Award Ceremony by the California Hotel & Lodging Association. The mobile application designed by NugoUgo has allowed us to personally engage the guests in a more effective manner, and these types of creative strategies allow us to provide outstanding service to our guests before, during and after their stay."
-Wes Tyler, General Manager of the Chancellor Hotel
Every year the California Hotel & Lodging Association recognizes and celebrates the creative accomplishments of both the employees and their property in the lodging industry that best display the quality service and creative innovation expected of the industry. The Stars of the Industry Awards Program was created by the American Hotel & Lodging Association more than forty years ago, and it has since remained one of the most prestigious award programs for those in the lodging industry.
The Technology Innovation of the Year recognizes the property that used the most innovative advances in technology to optimize their property's performance. The mobile application developed by NugoUgo for the Chancellor Hotel demonstrated the successful application of the technology to improve guest service, reduce operational costs, and increase revenue growth.
Entries in five major property categories are judged against a stringent set of two standards for hotels with less than one hundred fifty rooms and hotels with more than one hundred fifty rooms. This year the award was given at the California Hotel & Lodging Association's Annual Members and Stars of the Industry Luncheon on November 30th, 2011 at the Balboa Bay Resort & Club in Newport Beach
"NugoUgo is very honored for being recognized in this manner. We know that this is only the beginning for us," said Rob Roj, Co-founder of NugoUgo, "in terms of continuing the development of the most effective mobile applications for the leisure and lodging industry. We strive to provide the most innovative and effective mobile technology for our clients and partners in the highly competitive hospitality market. Our mobile apps provide an effortless, convenient experience for those who are spending the night at their home away from home."
NugoUgo provides custom branded smart phone applications for hotels and casinos. NugoUgo creates real time communication mechanism between the property staff and their guest. Guests receive detailed information about the property's amenities, services, entertainment, and events and can order services and book room, restaurant, and spa reservations. The property can track the real-time location of guests and push promotions, offers, and incentives to their guests in real time via their smart phone based upon their location. A startup company based out of the Silicon Valley in California, NugoUgo is capable of providing any hotel or casino with their own customized mobile application.
